The Paleolithic Age
Between 1957 and 1960, Nikolay Dzhambazov from the National Archeological Museum in Sofia carried out the first and only excavations related to that period, in the Pesht caves near the village of Staro Selo. These caves were Samuilitsa 1 and 2, near the village of Kunino, and the cave called Peshketo near the village of Lilyache in which an interesting discovery was made which showed that – apart from caves, rock coverings were also used as shelters during The Paleolithic Age.
