The tablet of Gradeshnitsa was found during archeological excavations by Bogdan Nikolov in 1969. It was found among some pottery which were carved with symbolic signs. These findings dates since the beginning of Chalcolithic period? or the first part of the fifth millennium BC. The pictogram signs on the tablet of Gradeshnitsa are supposed to be the earliest script in the world. It is known that it dates 1500 years earlier than the Sumerian scribe. There are a couple of attempts to the decipher the pictograms of Gradeshnitsa. Some of them are serious while others are close to fantasy. The reality is that from a distant period of time (around 7000 years ago) the way of thinking has changed a lot and we are not quite sure what they meant to say.

Découverte en 1969 par l’archéologue bulgare Bogdan Nikolov lors d’une campagne de fouille réalisée aux alentours du village éponyme, situé à 38 km au nord-ouest de Vratsa. Il s’agit d’un système complexe d’incisions réalisées sur les deux faces d’un support rectangulaire en argile. De nombreuses théories entourent cet objet quant à sa signification et son utilisation. Certains chercheurs y voient l’existence d’une proto-écriture, ancienne de plus d’un millénaire de celle des sumériens.
Плочката от с. Градешница е открита от ст.н.с. Богдан Николов при археологически разкопки през 1969 г. заедно с няколко керамични съда, върху дъното на които са врязани символични знаци. Тези находки датират от началото на каменно-медната епоха, или първата половина на V хил.пр. Хр. Пиктограмните знаци върху плочката от Градешница са най-ранната писменост в света. За сравнение можем да кажем, че смятаната за първа писменост – тази на шумерите датира с около 1 500 години по-късно. Има няколко опити за разчитане на пиктограмните знаци от Градешница. Някои звучат сериозно, други граничат с фантастика. По наше скромно мнение всички тези опити са обречени на неуспех, поради следната причина: погледнато от дистанцията на времето (а това са близо 7000 години) начинът на мислене на създателите на тези знаци е коренно различен от този на съвременния човек.
