Crutch of a folk healer
Made of wood – hazel. On its length, two snakes are sculptured in a deep relief, and they embrace it. The top of the crutch is shaped like a hand holding an egg. Snake and egg are well-established attributes in the images of the ancient Greek god of medicine – Asclepius. They are the most common symbols of health and life. These two symbols come as distant reminiscences of the cult of God Asclepius. They are made by the hand of a person related to healthcare and bear a sign for the healing activity of the crutch holder.
